Taylor – ‘Do I Not Like Land Mines!’Posted: April 2, 2008
Former England boss Graham Taylor is throwing his weight behind the anti-landmine lobby by starring in a hard hitting video.
Taylor, vilified during his time in charge of England, says it’s a cause close to his heart. “ It breaks my heart to see the damage land mines cause. It’s the least I can do.”
The film features Taylor and former colleagues Phil Neal and Lawrie McMenemy and shows a group of children playing football in a shanty town. One of them steps on a landmine and has his legs blown off. Taylor then shouts out: “Do I not like that!”, before adding: “This is a test now, this is a real test.” Neal agrees: “Yes, this is real test boss.” McMenemy then eats some crisps and says, “Aye. A test.”
Victims of War spokesperson Keith Jones said, “We hope Mr. Taylor will show a whole new audience the dangers of landmines.” If the campaign is a success Jones is hoping to use the football connection again, saying “We want to use Clive Tyldsley to explain about the massacres in East Timor.”
