Clock-Watching Shocker For Work-To-Rule FoolsPosted: May 7, 2008
Non-league Brayton Wanderers have continued their dismal run of eleven straight league defeats since their cost-cutting chairman imposed an overtime ban.
Skipper Lee Hooper says, “It’s out of our control. Because of the ban, once ninety minutes is up, we’re under orders to leave the field. Unfortunately we’ve let in a few crucial goals as a result.”
Last week’s 15-4 defeat against Ulleskelf Heathens came after Wanderers were seemingly cruising at 3-0 up in the 90th minute.
Defender Scott Coppell, who defied the rule and stayed on alone to score a fourth, has had his contract terminated.
